The once-spectacular Hetch Hetchy Valley in Yosemite National Park is hidden under 300 feet of water. A twin to the famous Yosemite Valley, Hetch Hetchy Valley was flooded early last century, becoming a giant, billion-gallon water tank. Today, we have better solutions. Environmental Defense's new study shows the river water can be stored in other reservoirs. This means Hetch Hetchy Valley can be restored while San Francisco and other communities keep their supply of electricity and pure water.
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is reviewing our study. Your support will make a difference - send an email to Governor Schwarzenegger and other California leaders asking them to consider restoring this natural wonder. We'll send you a "Discover Hetch Hetchy" bumper sticker and keep you posted on what happens. Discover Hetch Hetchy Valley, its rich history, and how restoration would work - find out more.
